In the latest IADC Defense Counsel Journal, Leta Gorman’s article, The Era of the Internet of Things: Can Product Liability Laws Keep Up?, discusses that although wireless connected devices can provide many benefits to consumers, these devices create both security and privacy risks.  She touches on the challenge of whether product liability law can keep up with the era of the Internet of Things (IoT).  Cases are discussed involving the IoT connected devices and the prevalent theme in these matters.  And lastly, she presents the challenge that product liability theories will need to keep being re-examined as the number of IoT devices steadily rises among consumers, and along with that, consumer claims.
