Bree H. Kame’enui-Ramirez is a senior attorney at Betts Patterson & Mines, P.S. with a civil and commercial litigation practice focused on Indian law, product liability and mortgage and real property. She served as judicial clerk to Associate Justice Steven H. Levinson (Ret.) of the Hawai’i State Supreme Court for a two-year term before returning to Seattle to practice. Following law school, Bree was appointed to a part-time lectureship at the University of Washington School of Law to provide interim leadership to the Tribal Court Criminal Defense Clinic. Bree serves as a pro bono attorney for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project on asylum and cancellation of removal cases.
Representative matters
- Assist lenders, servicers and investors in defense of wrongful foreclosure lawsuits and allegations of unfair trade practices.
- Assist tribes in preserving their cultural resources and sites and provide guidance in enforcing their Native rights.
- Represent tribes in treaty resource protection matters involving fishing and hunting rights.
- Advised an Alaska Native Corporation on its Small Business Administration 8(a) Business Development Program.
- Represented a trailer manufacturer in defense of a significant product liability claim.
- Obtained summary judgment in a products liability action alleging a defective locomotive remote control unit.
- Represented a large, worldwide truck leaf spring manufacturer against a defective product claim involving a catastrophic accident.
