BPM Wins Ninth Circuit Reversal

Steve Goldstein, Richard Ross and Victoria Pond successfully moved the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse injunctive relief which could have ended the 58 year history of Ryderwood, Washington as a 55 and older community.  The decision -- published as Balvage, et. al. v. Ryderwood Improvement and Service Association -- holds, for the first time, that retiree communities are exempt from the Fair Housing Act's family status protections provided they show present compliance with the three criteria of the Housing for Older Person's Act (HOPA).    more »
